Dangit, Mike. A heckuva tale. Reminds me of Fairport Convention’s “Slipjigs and Reels” which, despite its origins, remains the best fictional Western I’ve ever known.
Hey Misha! Wow. Glad you dug that one and thanks for that. I’m not overly familiar with Fairport Convention and I’d never heard that song before. It’s great. I kinda wanna throw a playlist together of western songs that aren’t classic country & western now. If I get introduced to a new song then the story is punching above its weight. Thanks for sharing!
I didn’t know that particular tune either. I’m a big game of the stuff with Sandy Denny, but don’t know much outside of that. Thanks for the recommendation.

“Fan” not “game”. 🙄
This is a belter. Good work Mike (and yes, would love to hear more from these two).
Cheers, David! I’ll get on it.
Excellent! Would definitely love more of this story.
So glad you enjoyed it! I’ll start thinking about those guys a little more.
Love it. Please serialise this unlikely partnership. It’s got legs… and teeth.
Ha! Glad you enjoyed it. I was gonna ask the readers which of the stories so far should have a sequel…
That one for sure I think the boat trip would be carnage :-)
Great story Mike.
Ta. Pulled that one out of my ass, but I quite like it.
